Nobody knows everything but a lot of real estate agents will sometimes act as though they do. I get it… sometimes it’s hard to say “I don’t know” or “I’m not sure” but in order to be a good real estate agent you will have to.
The best real estate agents I know realize they always have something learn and don’t always tell their clients they have a correct answer for a question. I know agents that have sold 1,000+ homes that still tell clients “I’m not sure but I can find out for you” when they are presented with a question that they don’t know the answer to.
Stop being scared to tell clients “I don’t know” because you are scared of what they might think. You are the industry professional, but that still doesn’t mean that you have to be perfect or that you have the answer to every question. Clients will actually appreciate that vulnerability. If they don’t, then you’re probably saving yourself from a nightmare of a deal.
@MarvTheRealtor said it perfectly in a twitter post, “As a Realtor you don’t know all the answers, but a good realtor knows how to find the answers. Your job is to be a Maestro of sorts and lean on the experts in the areas you don’t know. Don’t be stubborn because it can cost your clients 💰💰💰”
