Giving Consumers Comfort in their Choice

The future of residential real estate sales will be a competitive marketplace. Like it always has been. No one model will dominate and consumers will go with the decision that makes them the most money or fits their specific needs. The options will be plentiful and complexity will always be present. Some of the more popular options consumers will have are below. 

  • Listing with traditional agents on the open market (Compass, Remax, Keller Williams, many more) 
  • Redfin (Digital brokerage in league of their own) 
  • iBuyers (Zillow, Opendoor, Offerpad, Redfin) 
  • List for sale by owner
  • Traditional wholesalers 

What do all these options mean for consumers? Well to start, they will need to be educated on their options. With consumer facing brands like Zillow, Opendoor, and Offerpad, they will fight for consumer’s attention and will expect consumers to start their journey with them. That might be the case but the consumer’s journey won’t stop there. Again, there is a gigantic marketplace and consumers want the best sales price possible. This is where agents come into the equation. iBuyers will always just be part of the equation. They will be a small sliver of the market and for the markets they are in, consumers will be grateful for the additional optionality and data points to help them make a decision whether it is with that iBuyer or not.  

For the majority of consumers, the open market will be the best option for them to get the best price for their most prized possession. However, it isn’t just about the best price. It is also crucial consumers feel good and comfortable with their decision and in order to do that they will need an expert to lay out all the options and negotiate on their behalf.
