Symba Agent Spotlight: Emily Hughes Shelburne

Welcome to our Symba “Real Estate Agent Spotlight"  Q&A, where we feature the top-performing agents in the industry. Our mission is to highlight real estate agents who are not only successful but also forward-thinking and loved by their clients. We believe that success in this industry is not just about closing deals but also about building strong relationships with clients. The agents we select have made a quick start in their career and have demonstrated their commitment to creating a process that makes the home buying and selling journey an enjoyable one for their clients.

This week’s agent is Emily Hughes Shelburne. Emily is an agent in Louisville, Ky at RE/MAX Premier Properties and has been licensed since 2017. She’s sold 200+ homes for a total closed volume of more than $50,000,000. She's also earned agent of the year 3+ years running for the Jay T. Pitts & Associates Team.

Q: What inspired you to become an agent?

Emily: I was inspired to become an agent because I didn’t see any growth opportunities at my previous job and I was always curious about a career in Real Estate. It felt like the right time to make a jump to a new career so I signed up for real estate classes.

Q: What is one thing you hope your clients say about you after they work with you?

Emily: One thing I hope my clients walk away with after working with me is the feeling that I truly had their best interest in mind when searching for a new home or negotiating a contract. I want them to feel like I was able to make the process smooth and less stressful. Overall, I want them to feel like they can recommend me to a family member or friend that’s in need of an agent.

Q: How do you prioritize your clients’ needs and ensure their satisfaction throughout the buying and selling process?

Emily: I prioritize my clients needs and ensure their satisfaction throughout the deal by staying organized and making sure I am effectively communicating during the entire transaction and staying readily available for any questions my clients might have.

Q: What has been the most surprising thing you’ve learned since being an agent?

Emily: I think one of the most surprising things I have learned since being in real estate is that this career really takes someone who is able to connect with all different kinds of people. It is really important to be a people person and wanting to be able to help others to be a successful agent.

Q: What is the most difficult thing about being a real estate agent?

Emily: I would say one of the most difficult things about being an agent is the time management. Although it can be nice trying to set your own houses, Realtors usually end up working all hours of the day and 7 days a week to make sure they are successfully serving their clients.

Q: What do you believe sets you apart from other agents?

Emily: I would say my work ethic would set me apart from other agents and how much I truly care about every single one of my clients!

Q: Do you have a specialty in the real estate market?

Emily: I do not think I have a certain specialty in the real estate market. I pride myself on being knowledgeable in different kinds of transactions and like being able to support my clients in a variety of real estate needs they may have.

Q: What is the most rewarding thing about being an agent?

Emily: I think the most rewarding thing about being an agent is being able to help people with one of the biggest purchases, or sales of their lives. It means a lot when my clients put that trust in me and it is not something that I take lightly!

Q: What do you think Symba can help agents with the most in their business??

Emily: I think that Symba can help agents by staying organized throughout their transactions and being a great tool to use for reference on what needs to happen next and what communication should be happening with the client. Symba has been a life saver in my business when it comes to keeping clients happy and my business thriving.
