Sometimes I’ll have a real estate investor or realtor ask me about what I do. Generally, you may expect to hear me say I prepare tax returns. That seems to be a popular response I get and preparing tax returns is on my list of services, but it falls way down on the list when it comes to working with clients.
· As a tax advisor I want to listen to what you have to say. Don’t fear I’m punching a billing clock every time we speak. I want to make sure we have open communication throughout our relationship so that we can be proactive in maximizing your profits.
· You want to win an audit? I’ll help you organize your documents now so that if you do get that audit notice sometime down the road, you will have no reason to sweat it out.
· Real estate has many subcategories such as flipping, wholesaling, lending, renting, etc. Each subcategory of real estate can be taxed in its own special way. Therefore, I can discuss prior to you performing a task so that you fully understand how much profit you get to keep after taxes.
· Maybe you haven’t been utilizing an expense such as the home office deduction because a prior advisor wasn’t comfortable explaining the advantages. I look to identify and maximize expenses that you may not realize existed.
